Brief Description of Position
This is a junior-level position with measurable opportunities for career advancement. We are looking for an individual with three to five years of commercial credit underwriting experience who has extreme attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and is ready to work hard. Being trainable is a must!
The Loan Review Credit Analyst position works within a three-to-five-person team that performs confidential loan reviews for a different financial institution each week. You will review 12-15 commercial loans per day (we call it “turning files”) of various sizes and complexities and then opine on a loan’s risk grading accuracy, underwriting and servicing. You will document your findings utilizing IntelliCredit’s proprietary, web-based, loan review technology.
You will work under the supervisor and tutelage of a Senior Loan Review Credit Leader and interact with financial institution personnel to share and defend your findings. In this role, you must have three to five years of prior commercial credit underwriting experience, with an understanding of such terminology and concepts as debt service coverage, loan-to-value, borrowing base certificate, trend analysis, loan financial covenants, and guarantor support, among others. We will provide training and support, but this is a fast-paced, production-oriented role with opportunities for growth in your career.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Associates Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience in a credit analyst and/or commercial underwriting role is required
- Three to five years of experience working in a commercial bank with credit underwriting experience
- As this is a 100% remote job, you must be able to work independently and with a team to meet weekly production goals
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- Technical prowess; we work on different banking systems each week so the willingness and ability to “dive in” and learn new connectivity each week is needed
- Proven ability as a self-starter and independent worker
- Strong communication skills and time management capabilities
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Review approximately 12-15 loans per day, documenting and defending your risk grade assessments within our proprietary, web-based loan review technology.
- Review the financial institution’s credit origination and renewal memos, financial statement analyses and cash flow calculations.
- Review appraisals/valuations of real estate collateral, including appropriateness of various approaches to value and underlying assumptions.
- Identify and analyze guarantor support.
- Apply understanding of the fundamentals of risk rating along with the particular institution’s rating scale to opine on the appropriateness of risk grades for the loans reviewed.
- On an ongoing basis, provide innovative ideas and solutions to improve the loan review process and make it more efficient and cost-effective.
- Provide excellent customer service and build long-lasting relationships with the loan review team and with new and existing clients through consistent communication and follow-up.
